Guild of Guardians is advancing into a new era by migrating from ImmutableX to the groundbreaking Immutable zkEVM! Immutable zkEVM, powered by Polygon, is the first of its kind - a chain for games that offers EVM compatibility, low cost, massive scale, and Ethereum security. We will also be integrating with Immutable Passport at launch, the next generation of web3 wallets, bringing together seamless social logins, enterprise grade security supercharged with web3 features like digital asset management.

‍Why Immutable zkEVM?

Immutable zkEVM isn't just a change; it's a game-changer! This technology offers a plethora of benefits, ensuring that Guild of Guardians remains at the forefront of gaming innovation.

Why Immutable Passport? 

We will also be integrating Immutable Passport at launch, a universal gamer profile that streamlines onboarding for players through passwordless sign-on and automated wallet creation:

• Frictionless sign up and sign ins: Passport allows new users to create a Guild of Guardians account with Google, Apple or email, lowering the onboarding friction. It also simplifies and streamlines the login process for GOG with password-less sign-ins. 
• Automated Wallet Creation: Passport offers a non-custodial wallet that never holds users’ private keys nor is involved in signing transactions. Additionally, players can also choose to connect their existing Metamask wallets within Passport to access existing assets.
• Seamless Signing: Passport also offers seamless signing to enable a better player experience while ensuring transaction signing can only be initiated by the end user via their device.
• Enterprise-grade security: Passport ensures that only the holder of the corresponding private key can gain access — allowing gamers to remain protected and in control of their assets. 
• Unified Access to the whole Immutable ecosystem: Passport gives you access to all games and marketplaces powered by Immutable so your assets, funds, and achievements travel with you.

For web3 games to reach millions of traditional gamers, onboarding must be invisible, secure, and work across any game. This frictionless onboarding process is crucial to our ambition of introducing millions of players to the Guild of Guardians universe.

Gas Free for Gamers Initiative

We understand that gas fees are a consideration for players. With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Guild of Guardians will be part of Immutable’s ‘Gas Free for Gamers’ initiative. We will be sponsoring gas fees for all Immutable Passport users, abstracting away these fees to enable frictionless onboarding and providing a streamlined gaming experience initially. This means that for Passport users, gas fees will be effectively nonexistent. You can immerse in blockchain activities like crafting and transfers without the concern of gas fees, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted gaming journey. More details will be shared on this ahead of launch.

Migration Plans

We will be migrating all existing GOG NFTs from ImmutableX to Immutable zkEVM in Q1 2024 next year, ahead of GOG’s global launch. In line with this migration, the current iteration of The Guild’s Treasure will be wrapping up at the end of 2023, with the final distribution by the end of January. Our plan following this pause is to launch future active staking programs with Guild Guardians Limited on Immutable zkEVM. We’ll share more in future updates.

During the migration period, players will have the opportunity to link their Metamask wallets to a Passport account before the migration, ensuring a hassle-free transfer of NFTs to zkEVM, with all migration costs covered by Immutable.

‍

If players do not link their Metamask wallets to a Passport account before the migration date, their GOG NFTs will still be migrated to zkEVM to the same Metamask wallet address. However, in order to be able to use these NFTs in the Guild of Guardians game, players will need to transfer them from their Metamask wallet to Passport on zkEVM, which will likely involve transfer/gas fees.

We will share comprehensive details and guides on the migration process in early 2024.

NFT Metadata Update During Migration

As part of GOG’s reboot, we’ve made significant changes to our game as part of our shift towards a Squad RPG. Part of these changes include game design tweaks, and narrative overhauls that have resulted in new naming conventions we will be using going forward. 

‍

During this migration, we will be updating the metadata of all Guardian NFTs to reflect these updates and synchronize with the game. This includes renaming factions, elements, and classes, and introducing new features like Radiance and Enlightenment. These updates are primarily cosmetic, preserving the core power and essence of your NFTs. We’ll also ensure that your NFTs’ mint #s are carried over in the migration.

Factions have been renamed 

• Horde -> Redeemers
• Empire -> Imperials
• Glade -> Keepers

Elements are now called Domain and have been renamed 

• Fire -> Cinder
• Water -> Hydris
• Earth -> Terra
• Dark -> Umbrus
• Light -> Solas

Classes are now called Aptitude and have been adjusted 

• Mage -> Intelligence
• Melee -> Strength
• Ranged -> Agility

Special Edition will now be called Chroma:

• Normal
• Warrior
• Elite
• Mythic
• Champion (New)

Radiance will be added as a metadata with 4 variables 0, 1, 2, 3

Enlightenment will be added as a metadata with 15 variables from 1 to 15

Lastly, we will be reducing the royalty fee on GOG Avatar NFTs when we migrate them to Immutable zkEVM. We want to experiment with a lower royalty fee on a smaller set of NFTs to see how it affects overall trading volume. We believe that with this change, we will see a higher trading volume of Avatars and this will also lead to an increase in staking rewards for the community.
